Snow Day/Inclement Weather Policy & Tips
The Albany JCC strives to remain open, even during snowy or inclement weather. There are, however, guidelines that are put in place in order to ensure the safety of program participants and our staff members. Moreover, during times of bad weather, we reference Albany School District’s status of operation (i.e., delays or closings) and have built policies to coincide with their decisions. In the rare event that it is determined that it is too dangerous to open the program, Albany JCC Directors will announce that the program will remain closed for the day.
While it rarely occurs, there may been instances where we need to close the program earlier than 6:00pm due to impending weather conditions. Again, this is to ensure that everyone is able to return home safely. Should this occur, the Directors will send an email and Remind text to every parent explaining the plan that has been put in place for that day. As emails and Remind texts are the faster way to reach everyone at once, we ask that you respond to the email or text to state that you have in fact received the message. If a parent has not responded, we will follow up with a phone call. It is expected that all children are picked up by the time specified by the Director.
The following are general guidelines and policies for Snow Day Programming. Please read them carefully and refer to them as needed.
1) If Albany Schools are closed for a snow day, we will open for Snow Day Program at 8:30am, unless otherwise specified on the announcement.
2) There are many helpful ways to stay informed of Weather Delays and Closings.
