Challenger British Sports Camp 

Times/Ages: 9 am - 12 noon (Ages 5 - 14); 9 am - 4:30 pm (Ages 7 - 14 only)

Rocketry Camp with Bob Neudel

Times/Ages: 9 am - 12:30 pm (Ages 8-14 year olds)

Dates: August 21-25
Description: 

  • Construct and Launch Rockets
  • Each student to create a 6 foot Olympic rocket
  • Returning students will work on more difficult rockets (by ability)
  • Rocket Launch on Friday!

Description: 

  • Amazing Athletes is a developmental sports and fitness program that teaches children the basic fundamentals and mechanics of 9 different sports!

  • Each day we introduce a new sport and incorporate obstacle courses, games and activities to promote stretching, muscle tone, hand-eye coordination and gross motor development.

  • The kids have a blast while learning and staying active!

 

 

Circus Camp with Sean Fagan 

Ages: 7 - 15 years old (Maximum 40 campers)
Dates/Times: July 17-21 and August 21 - 25, 9 am - 4:30 pm
Description: 

  • Learn the athleticism and artistry of Circus and Theatre performance
  • Fun, high-energy
  • Olympic Circus theme
  • Develop a sense of confidence and build skills on any level — from process to performance
  • Circus Camp Performance to take place on Friday afternoon

GPS Soccer

  • Lessons will give campers the opportunity to look into the real and exciting field of Veterinary Medicine

Description: 

  • CSI!
  • The beginning of the day introduces campers to the notion of observation and its importance as part of the scientific method
  • A mock crime scene is examined, information is presented in many formats, and the challenge is to sort and sift through the data in an effort to solve the "crime"
  • Several forensic techniques are employed toward this effort
  • The end of the day brings a conclusion to the "crime", followed by a recap of the information and methods used to ascertain what actually happened

  • Spend the last week of summer camp learning about a day about nature, a day of space, birds and beasts, shutterbugs, and chemistry

Description: 

  • Kid Detective CSI!
  • Explore STEM in a whole new way with our Kid Detective CSI program that uses an integrated approach to learn the scientific method, apply critical thinking skills, make observations, analyze facts, and draw conclusions!
  • Campers will learn techniques used by crime scene investigators in daily labs that include fingerprinting, chromatography, chemical analysis, and shoe print impressions, to name a few
  • Tools campers will use include a digital microscope, magnifying glasses, ink pads, and graphite powder
  • Solving mysteries using learned techniques will occur at different points throughout the program
  • Our last class will include a life-size game of CLUE!

Description: 

  • Trash to Treasure Paper Making!
  • Discover the art of making paper beginning with where does paper come from, what is the process the fibers must go through before forming a sheet of paper, and then try your hand at making your own creative papers by creating pulp from recycled sources
  • In this program we make paper by recycling paper around us and incorporating other materials and techniques to make one-of-a-kind papers
  • Using a process, similar to the one used in a paper mill, campers will create their own pulp, form the shape using a variety of deckles, complete the process using wet and dry felts taken from an actual paper machine, and dry the paper using a variety of techniques
  • Some projects include holiday themed designs, shaped paper, comic papers, secret message papers, collage papers, pulp casting, seed and botanicals, and embedded papers using found objects, textiles, fibers, and more
  • Unique, hands-on fun!

 

Gretta's Music and Movement Creativity Class

Times/Ages:  Week 1 -  9 am to Noon (6-11 year olds); Week 10 -  9 am to Noon (3-5 year olds)
Dates: June 26-30 (Week 1) & August 28-September 1 (Week 10)
Description: 

  • Movement and Creativity!
  • Dance, Drama, Music, Stories, and Yoga each day
  • Campers will refine their fine and gross motor skills, verbal skills, and emotional intelligence skills through a play-based exploration of movement and the arts
  • Story telling and then acting out the stories afterwards!
  • Instruments, costumes, props, and more!


Afternoon Post Camp at JCC

Ages: 5 - 11 years old
Dates/Times: August 21 - September 1, 12 noon - 4:30 pm, Late Camp (4:30 - 6 pm) available

What to Bring to Camp Each Day:

  • Labeled Water Bottle
  • Bathing Suit and Towel (with child's name labeled) for Full Day Campers only (see above options)
  • Nut Free Lunch (Full Day Campers only) and Morning Snack
  • Water Shoes (Full Day Campers only)
  • Sunscreen
  • Closed Toed Shoes and Socks
  • Light Jacket for Cool Days or Rain

Where do I Drop Off My Child/Where Do I Pick Up:

  • Early Care takes place in the JWV Room from 7:30-9am
  • Regular Drop Off at Pavilion by Back Field between 8:30-8:55am
  • JCC Staff Mark Attendance with Time In
  • Please call Camp Office or email Camp Staff for any absences/late arrivals
  • Parents or Approved Pick Up Person Sign Camper Out with Time indicated
  • Late Care takes place in the JWV Room from 4:30-6pm
