Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center prestigious youth awards

Herbert A Applebaum Memorial Award (for males) and

Lenore Bellin Memorial Award (for females)

Purpose

The purpose of the JCC Applebaum (Male) and Bellin (Female) awards is to honor high school seniors who have established outstanding leadership in the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center, synagogue, school and/or community. Herbert Applebaum and Lenore Bellin were both active members of the Albany JCC who passed away at the age of 19.

The evaluation will be based upon the following criteria:

Leadership and Involvement in an Albany Jewish youth organization and/or synagogue
Involvement at the Albany JCC
Involvement in High School activities (Hebrew or secular)
Volunteer programs
Employment experience
For consideration, an individual must fill out an application. The application will include a brief synopsis of why s/he should be considered for the award and should review all pertinent accomplishments and involvements.

Application

All applicable materials must be received by last Monday in December for consideration. Winners to receive a scholarship check from the Albany JCC and will be honored at the Annual JCC Pillars Award Ceremony in April/May.
